In that moment, the husband said, he felt as though the strings between their hearts had been severed. “ Heartstrings by @kazuhiko.matsumura81 at @kyotographie 2023 Japan is a super-aging society: 28.9% of its population are currently elderly,and in the year 2025, seven million people (1 in 5 elderly people) will suffer from dementia. And yet many people in Japan do not really know what living with dementia is like or what the symptoms are. In 2017, photojournalist Kazuhiko Matsumura began interviewing dementia patients along with their families and friends, capturing with his camera their daily lives and changes. Set in a 100-year old Kyoto machiya, Matsumura's exhibition is designed to allow visitors to understand the symptoms of dementia and to experience what it is like to live with dementia. Kazuhiko Matsumura's work offered me an opportunity to understand dementia. "ある日、目を覚ました男性の妻は、もう彼を認識できず、"お父さん "と呼んでいました。その瞬間、夫の心の糸が切れたような気がしたという。" 最終日に弾丸で伺った京都グラフィーでとても大きく脳みそが動かされました。それは前に病床の父にあなたは誰？と言われた時の衝撃、そして動揺と仕事をいい訳に目を背けていた介護の世界に向き合う機会をいただきました。日本は超高齢化社会であり、人口の28.9％が高齢者、2025年には700万人（高齢者の5人に1人）が認知症になると言われています。それなのに、日本では多くの人が、認知症の暮らしがどんなものか、どんな症状なのか、よく分かっていないのが現状です。フォトジャーナリストの松村和彦氏は、認知症患者をその家族や友人とともに取材し、彼らの日常や変化をカメラに収め始め、認知症には実に多くの障害があり、その障害によって人と人をつなぐ心の糸が切れてしまう。一方で、人はその切れた糸を繋ぎ直すことが出来る、または繋ざ直そうとする生さ物であることも、この取材経験そして今回の京都グラフィーでの展示を通して人の目には象として見えにくい認知症を可視化し社会に一石を投じた展示になっています。 @kyotographie @kazuhiko.matsumura81 @chihiro_suda_inc」5月14日 19時53分
