The definition of a #classic #scotch #cocktail is when it references an era, a style and techniques that bring together to demonstrate and highlight the relevant tastes and flavors. Created by #newyork bartender Sam Ross in 2005, this modern 'riff' on a Whiskey Sour really delivers different layers of delicious enjoyment.
Our favourite version looks like this -
The Penicillin
50ml Chivas 12yr
20ml freshly squeezed lemon juice
10ml *honey syrup
10ml *sweetened ginger juice
7ml Islay Single Malt Scotch
Candied Ginger
Shake the first 4 ingredients together with the best quality ice you can find. Strain over ice into an old fashioned tumbler and then carefully float the Islay Whisky on top.
Sipping pleasure! The balance of Citrus with warming spices and a honey finish really identify with the Speyside style of blend that Chivas 12 has been famous for since launching in 1938. It took long enough for this drink to be created but with time and fresh ingredients we think it's worth the wait. *recipes available upon request
