On this International Women's Day, as so many are giving love to the amazing women who paved the way before us (and I shoutout my love for my mom on the reg), I'd like to give some to the wonderful women coming after us. This is my goddaughter (sundaughter technically, but that's an explanation for another time), Alba. She's the light of everyone's life she enters, mine included. I've watched her, from near and far, become a tiny, incredible, uniquely kind universe of her own behind a face that reminds me of her mom @fireandjoy every time I see it. And this photo is old as hell because she's already in school!

To Miss Alba, and all the little ladies coming up in this world like you: you're inheriting some well worn shoes. And sometimes the ones others want you to wear, well, they don't quite fit. But whether in the end you wear heels, combat boots or bare feet, don't ever, EVER let the paths women have not been allowed to travel before you make you feel like you can't. Don't let the ones they've pioneered and conquered make you feel less than. There are still so many routes untried, so many boundaries to break, and so many mountains to climb!
And I'll be here waiting, at whatever ledge I make it to, old and tired, to help you up to the one above it. ❤️
