SM Entertainment has made an official statement regarding SHINee member Onew’s sexual harassment case.
On August 12 of last year, Onew was accused of sexually harassing a woman while intoxicated at a club in the Gangnam district of Seoul. Although the woman in question dropped the charges against him later that same day, his case was forwarded to the prosecution on August 14 for further review.
According to sources within the music industry, Onew’s sexual harassment case was recently dismissed, and he was cleared of all charges by the prosecution.
On April 6, a spokesperson for SM Entertainment confirmed, “It’s true that the prosecution has dropped all charges against Onew.” Following the accusations last year, Onew stepped down from his role in the JTBC drama “Age of Youth 2” and did not participate in several of SHINee’s concerts. During his hiatus, he also posted a handwritten letter to his fans apologizing for the controversy.
