Memphis & Elijah (and Finn), Labrador/Golden Retriever crosses (CCI Service dogs; 2 & 1 y/o), Colorado Front Range Trail, Denver CO • “Memphis was released a couple of weeks ago from advanced training. All of his reports were perfect but at the last minute he barked at a statue, which isn’t appropriate for a service dog. His one thing is statues – he gets nervous around them. So, Memphis is mine forever. He’s a flunky – they prefer the term ‘career change dog’. I’ve raised four service dogs, and it’s very addicting. When you turn one over for training, they leave a hole in your heart and you want to start raising a new puppy. There are certain commands Memphis knows that Elijah can’t learn until he graduates to training, but he’ll try and copy Memphis. The thing that people are most impressed by is that they go to the bathroom on command. The command is ‘hurry’ – super useful if you’re traveling.” @ccicanine @fosteringpuppies
