Cat Mom here ??‍♀️
I know some of you have been following “Tortie” in my stories. I wanted to share the back story, which I have been slowly learning through this process of finding her a forever home.

I’ve seen tortie countless times on my neighborhood walks and always assumed that she lived at this house seen in the pictures, along with another cat, an all black panther. Not too long ago I met the owner of this house and was told that those cats weren’t hers, but they stayed by her home. She has been feeding them and enjoying their company for years. (Turns out that tortie is a senior cat).

The people who “owned” Tortie moved, recently, leaving her behind. Tortie has been living her life outdoors, mainly on this stoop or in a barn behind the property. .

The woman who lives here is Dione. She is one of the kindest, most humble human beings I’ve had the pleasure to meet (aside from Stephen -@burmaadventurecat). It turns out that she is the wife of a very well known illustrator and esteemed cartoonist for The New Yorker. For his work he has been residing closer to NYC and so Dione spends much of her time divided between the two locations.

She told me a story recently about how she was in her yard and feeling lonely. She had a conversation with herself about how she wished she had a cat companion and within minutes tortie appeared by her clothes line, stretched out in the grass and rolling around in the sun’s rays. That was the day they first met. Dione called her “Chloe”. She expressed a deep connection to these two cats and a sadness that she couldn’t give them an actual home with her being away so frequently.

Dione’s house is located on a very busy road. I just learned that the black cat was recently struck by a car and did not survive.
She called him “silly pants”. ?
.
We both agreed that it was time to find tortie a forever home where she can live out her days inside, with warmth and safety away from traffic and the elements. Thanks to the power of social media we were able to do just that!
