I should treasure this special reunification with the family, and be thankful and happy at the chance to meet the family again when not everyone gets the opportunity to speak to and to understand refugees. But the meeting today left me with many thoughts. The family was lucky to reunite with the father who they thought had been killed during the violence in Myanmar’s Rakhine State. But with his severe injury, he is not able to sufficiently support his wife and two daughters. The mother, fresh in memory of the violence, has no other hope than that for the safety of her family. Now finally safe from the threats of life, the family is looking for a future, which might only be something of a humble improvement from what they have today.
