So why such a big push to ban plastic straws? I love turtles *insert #iliketurtleskid here* as much as the next person but out of all the plastic we should be replacing why our convenient summertime slurp? Straws are one of the top contributors to plastic waste because they are too light weight to recycle and end up in land fills or the ocean. It will take 500 years for a straw to decompose and about 500 million are thrown away every day. Eek. So I’ve opted for reusable bamboo ones that I carry with me. Bamboo is an incredible plant that can grown 3 feet in a day in the right climate and releases 30% more oxygen into our atmosphere. So super sustainable and amazing for our planet. McDonalds have paper straws now, those are a better substitute at least. I never really thought about the whole thing growing up though, we dont have any turtles to accidentally kill in the UK, but I used to keep my straws growing up, and when I needed to, I'd dispose of them in the fireplace, which I'm sure is also bad *shrug* lol

@devinymouse I think this kind is a good option. Doesn’t get soggy and are biodegradable. And I think it would be safer then a metal one 💕
