When I was 16 I visited Anne Frank’s house with Miep Gies, the woman who bravely hid Anne and her family when the Nazis were rounding up Jews in Amsterdam and much of Europe. Today, I shudder at the thought of a young girl hiding somewhere in my own country, afraid to turn on her light or make a noise or play outside lest she get rounded up by our government. #notinmyname and #notinmycountry Follow @theirc @fams2gether @together.rising @aclu_nationwide @raicestexas to learn how you can help.

Anne Frank was persecuted bec ause of her religion. These people you speak of are NOT the same. They broke the law, KNOWINGLY. I believe there are things we can do to help, but every single person could very well "claim asylum" and then where would we be? What about the legal citizens of the country who are homeless, destitute, veterans who fought for the country going without care, seniors on medicine that they cannot afford, or live without?

I am a French woman living in Amsterdam, with parents living in Calais. I am very touched and horrified this is still a subject. We are all native and inhabitants of the same planet. Everyone here is migrant, immigrant or whatever and would act the same in circumstances, just be kind to each other and treat people like you would want people to treat you, like a human being and not like a figure, a statistic, a concept or whatever.

It’s the proof that having a college degree doesn’t make you smart. To compare the persecution of Anne Frank to a Latino in the U.S. is an insult to history. People deported from the U.S. do not go to a death camp. @natalieportman you shouldn’t name Anne Frank. You are insulting her by writing that!

@natalieportman I visited the museum / house myself it was quit interesting . The fact that she was mature and brave enough to write in a journal about her situation rather than not was heroic . I never got around to reading the journal she published but I know it’s worth the read !
