RCOG, of which The Duchess of Cambridge became Patron in 2018, works to improve women's health care across the world. To mark their 90th year, we’re taking a look back at the long association between the College and @TheRoyalFamily: 2. 🎓 Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Elizabeth II) receives an Honorary RCOG Fellowship from Dame Hilda Lloyd in 1951. Two years earlier Dame Hilda became the first female president of RCOG, and of any medical royal college. 3. 🔨 Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother lays the foundation stone of RCOG’s new home at Sussex Place in 1957. She became the College’s first Royal Patron in 1932. 4. 🎥 The Queen officially opens RCOG’s new home at Sussex Place in 1960. 5-7. 🤝 RCOG has awarded an Honorary Fellowship to 10 members of the Royal Family, including Princess Margaret in 1966, The Princess Royal in 1979 and Diana, Princess of Wales in 1987. 8-10. Today RCOG has over 16,000 members 🌎 worldwide. The college works with partners both in the UK and globally to improve the standard of care delivered to women, encourage the study of obstetrics and gynaecology (O&G), and advance the science and practice of O&G.
