As I continue my search to find organizations near and far that are heroically meeting those needs I thought I'd share names folks/organizations across the country that are tirelessly doing all they can to keep people, families and our neighbors safe and well fed. In 1993 The West Side Campaign Against Hunger here in NYC created the first customer choice "supermarket-style" food pantry in the United States becoming the model for other programs across the country. They also have mobile markets, social services and wellness programs. So many New Yorkers and those outside our beloved hard hit city have been asking me how and where to give. I'm learning and researching myself, discovering amazing organizations big and small and trying to send support to all of them but once I learned about West Side Campaign Against Hunger it seemed right to share with all with you. They are doing incredible work here in NYC. Have been doing so for a long time but in light of Covid-19 the amount of New Yorkers who need access to healthy food and supportive services for their families will increase exponentially over the coming weeks. In order for WSCAH to meet their mission, they will simply need more support.
