Today, #May9 - celebrating Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in #WorldWar2 & effectively ending the war in Europe. Victory Day in Russia (& former republics of the USSR) is a sacred holiday, honoring the bravery, #heroism & sacrifices of those who fought the Nazi invaders. Today we pay gratitude to all those who stood on the right side of history and resisted the deathly threat of Nazi ideology. Let’s not forget all of the sacrifices made by the allied forces in the west, but let’s also give credit to the eastern front that bore the brunt of the Nazi offensive. So please join me in giving thanks to all the veterans of #WW2 including our friends in the east without whom #victory could never have been achieved. The human mind can hardly comprehend the level of loss, brutality and devastation people experienced during that time, and behind every loss a story, a tragedy. We must never let that happen again. 75 years later, we must be aware, alert & vigilant and stand united against any ideology that promotes segregation and genocide.
