We sat outside a coffee shop on Sunday, sipping drinks, feeling the breeze, and soaking up some sun. It felt normal, but not. It's been months since we ventured out like that. Months of scurrying away with takeout, always wondering if we tipped enough (as if you can ever tip enough during a global pandemic). Nothing's changed since those scurrying days, if we're honest. The cases go up. People continue to die. But now neighbours say things like, "If you haven't gotten it yet, you probably won't get it at all. Live a little!" And I wonder why they think I'm not living. Then I wonder where they get their news.

Our realities march steadily apart.
