It’s my dad’s first birthday since he passed away earlier this year on January 15th.
I miss him.
Think about him often.
Think about all the lessons he left me with.
Some good.
Some great.
Some not so much.
And even some brand new lessons I only came to realize after he passed away.

Considering he paved the road for me and countless other men and women of color in sports and entertainment — he was so proud when I become the first ever Black/Samoan heavyweight champion of the @WWE.
He used to love telling people — I taught Dwayne everything he knows...BUT I didn’t teach him everything I KNOW 😂👊🏾

Sometimes when people like my dad, “pave the road” and trail-blaze, they often pay an emotional & physical price.
My dad would always say - people can’t feel your pain, they can only see it — so why show them?.
But there’s some shots in this video where I can see the burden in his eyes and the pressures taking their toll.

Which motivates me even more to continue putting in the hard work with my own two hands and utilizing those life lessons my old man taught me.
The good lessons.
The good stuff.
