There were no trending stories. No breaking headlines. No climbing death toll on the nightly news. But before the world had ever heard of COVID-19, some 14,000 young children around the world were already dying every day - mostly from preventable and treatable causes. Now, the pandemic is disrupting children’s health care and threatening to push that tragic toll even higher.⠀

As governments rightly invest to protect communities from #COVID19 infection, we cannot neglect the millions of children at risk of dying from birth complications, pneumonia, diarrhoea and vaccine-preventable diseases. They may not make the front page but we refuse to let them live and die out of sight and out of mind. Every one of these children shares an equal right to survive with quality health care. It’s up to all of us to make it possible.⠀
