Found some phenomenal pairings for spicy Ethiopian/Eritrean food 🇪🇷 🥘 🇪🇹 all from natural wine shop @vinonrose 💖

Beer (Sewa in Eritrea) is always a safe bet: Dig My Earth’s hazy IPA 👌🏾

For wine, an unfiltered, zesty, and low alcohol white can calm spices. Alice Buvot’s Ivre de Vivre is just that, with a balanced body as it’s 100% Viognier.

Low tannin, crisp, chilled reds are hella refreshing, and if it’s Pinot Noir, the fruit character really complements spice. I picked two from Alsace: Kumpf et Meyer’s 100% Pinot, and Rietsch Tout Rouge which has a little Pinot Gris giving it a light vibrancy.

Of course, you can also go with an off-dry sparkling or still wine (Riesling, Chenin, Juicy pet-nat). The Eritrean version of this type of pairing would be Mes —> aka Mead or Honey wine in America 🍯 🍷
