We are not in the second Civil Right movement. The Civil Rights movement never ended. We are still fighting for our freedoms.

My heart swells as activists, advocates, organizers, and community builders have taken to the streets and the halls of power in the past several months to demand systemic change. The charge for us now is to turn that culture shift into a power shift.

We can write budgets that value Black lives. We can put people over profits, joy over trauma, freedom over fear.

We can and we must.

If you believe that Black Lives Matter, then you need to affirm that:
Black families matter,
Black wealth matters,
Black health matters,
Black history matters,
Black futures matter,
And Black joy matters.
