I’d create elaborate shoots where I did everything from casting my “models” (really just my more attractive friends) to styling the wardrobe and doing the makeup myself. . I wanted to tell stories. To create films. To make work that drew you in and didn’t let go. . But making films seemed out of reach. Too complex and expensive for 15 year old me living in small town Maine. (This was long before everyone had a 4k camera in their pocket at all times) . So I used what I had. . A simple 35 mm film camera. Those shoots were amazing. Just me and the person I was photographing. Both of us eager to create striking images and willing to try just about anything to do it. .
