Acclaimed Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser takes a bath in his makeshift tub in the native forest of New Zealand.

I donated this print to be auctioned off as part of the Los Angeles Center of Photography’s annual virtual benefit gala, this year celebrating my dear friends and legends in photography, Douglas and Françoise Kirkland. As a young photographer in 1978, I spent a few weeks with world-renowned eccentric artist, architect and early environmentalist Friedensreich Hundertwasser at his expansive, rugged property in the Bay of Islands in New Zealand. In his art and architecture, he used bright colors and organic forms, was fascinated by spirals and considered straight lines as “immoral and godless.”
