I’ve spent hours waiting in the cold rain with my camera in hand for these coastal canines to grow comfortable enough to reveal their secret lives to me. But once I gained their trust, their highly inquisitive nature became immediately apparent. Rain wolves are very affectionate with one another, and the bond between pack members is unbreakable. They subsist almost exclusively on marine life, a behavior so unique that taxonomists are considering classifying their population as a separate species from their inland kin. However, these incredibly unique animals are afforded no formal protection. I hope to change that through sharing my experiences with them and encouraging people to see wolves as socially complex beings, not just predators.
