Over the course of the week, they go out with experienced hunters who teach them how to hunt, skin, clean, cut, and smoke deer and elk. The gathering is rooted in preserving and passing on Native traditions, from the early morning dip they take in the Flathead River to telling stories about their day every evening. At the end of the week, the smoked meat is distributed to members of the community. #nativeamericanheritagemonth
