Lake Naivasha is a shallow freshwater lake situated in the eastern Rift Valley of Kenya, about 80 km north of Nairobi. It is ranked third behind Lake Victoria and Lake Turkana in the total volume of fish landed and provides livelihoods, water, and food to thousands who live on its shores. Even though naturally subject to considerable fluctuations in water level, heavy rainfall from February to June 2020 caused massive flooding and submerged private properties of hundreds of families and businesses located along the edges of the lake. In May this year, lake Naivasha reached its highest level since 1932. As the water levels continue to rise, cases of human-wildlife conflict are spiraling and fishermen are living in fear of being displaced and losing their only source of income in the coming months. #lakenaivasha #fishermen #rainfall」11月30日 22時30分
