A lotta laughs and geeking but also taking it seriously at times and sending like Dru is in this shot taken by @frietzphoto. I’m grateful. This route is Peregrination/Visitor Q, 8b+/c, and was bolted by the well respected @perkinstodd when we first started developing this dirty-ass-cave. At the time it was the most badass looking line as it had tufas, a gradual angle and beautiful colors. In 2008 I sent it with Todd’s permission and The Hurricave was up and running. For years it was just 4 of us climbing up there. It became a spot I was able to teach myself how to bolt. I could screw up, learn from my mistakes and not get shamed. I could be alone and take my time to equip some of the hardest routes of my career and even some of the best in the country. Those are some great memories and I know it was for the few of us that climbed there. It’s been a privilege to climb up there and we’re all very fortunate to have zero issues even being located behind a neighborhood. Fast forward to now... the cave has become a popular spot and literally reaches max capacity almost daily (global pandemic or not). I’m proud of it but also overwhelmed at times. What was once our backyard crag is now a high-end rock gym. I’m doing my best to maintain it and clean up after people but only one person can do so much. The influx of the climber population is real. It’s happening and only growing. I’m pleased to see folks enjoying the cave but it’s also a responsibility for all of us to do our part when climbing at a crowded crag. Wear a mask, keep your distance, piss way-outside the vicinity, pick up your trash, don’t camp in the spots that literally have signs that read “no camping”, be respectful of one another, etc. I’m not trying to preach, I’m only trying to remind. We want our crags and bouldering spots to stay access friendly, with good vibes and to avoid issues of any kind. It’s all of our doing and it’s not hard to play the game. Love ya’ll and thanks for reading.」12月21日 9時30分 - joekinder
