I’m posting a picture of 3 socially distanced sheep letting you know what I‘ve been enjoying in hibernation. Firstly “Shuggie Bain” by Douglas Stuart, this year’s Booker prize winner. Both @mssophiedahl and I finished it in tandem yesterday. It is truly heartbreaking and a piece hard wrought human genius. It paints such extraordinary beauty out of such pain. I can’t recommend it highly enough. Also Jeff Tweedy’s “How to write one song” is an wonderful meditation on creativity and perfect for someone (me) who’s about to be faced with the musical blank page of 2021. I’m rereading Alan Garner’s “The Owl Service” whilst watching Phillip Pullman’s “His Dark Materials” on the BBC IPlayer. I’m playing Cyberpunk 2077 (despite it’s problems) and loving it on Google Stadia which, I’m surprised to say works really well. What are you reading/playing/watching right now? Much love!
