It was the first weekend of relative freedom after the strict lockdown of the holidays, and the last day before we were labeled “zona arancione”, orange zone in Lazio, entering a harsher lockdown in our region. In classic neverending-January fashion, it feels like at least two arduous months have passed since these snaps. Sunny days like this one have not really been seen around here ever since our entrance to the Orange Zone. But despite the weather forecast, a tiny ray of sunshine will be cast upon us tomorrow, by the means of going back to the Yellow Zone; a less harsh restriction level. I guess this means we’re ready for February now. Nonetheless, the lockdown fatigue is very real here, as well as the “normal” winter blues. If you’re feeling exhausted, know that you’re not alone. Aren’t we all, honestly? In my incessant search for inspiration against this all (as a fuel to keep me going) I came upon a video by the ever enlightening @estherperelofficial where she basically says that in order to flatten the curve, we have flattened ourselves. One of the consequences of constant confidements is this flatness; “the lack of energy, connection, spontaneity, chance encounters, fun, playfulness, surprise”, in other words the “Erotic”. Personally, I felt a lot better to see this thing that I have been feeling described articulately. It doesn’t solve the problem of the lack of zest in day to day life, but at least it’s being acknowledged as one of the many problems of this pandemic. Other things that have helped me (although I’m terribly inconsistent with them) is a daily rhythm of sleeping and waking up early (a real struggle), meditation and reading about creative inspiration.
