I recognised it immediately, having seen the store at Block 341 Market often on my visits to Teck Ghee. This beautiful reproduction of Choon Kooi Provision Shop was meant as a gift for Gena’s father, Mr Tan Choon Kooi, who has been running the store and serving residents for 44 years. The miniature took a whole month to make, using mostly cardboard and recycled materials. It is truly a labour of love, and a fitting tribute to both the store and its owner.
