I was sleeping on the floor of this big house on Mulholland Terrace, and literally didn’t know if I would be allowed to stay, how I would get a visa or where my next pay check was coming from. I was super wired and sleep deprived and everything felt surreal and heightened in this new world. I had just met Mike Wise in Toronto, and we became fast collaborators/friends as he helped me finish Catch, Prime, and Tongue Tied and create what ultimately became the CLX I sound. I sent Mike Belinda Carlisle’s ‘Heaven is a Place on Earth’ and asked him if he could make a track like that. He sent back a track named ‘Glam’ and I remember listening to it for the first time in the backyard and loving it. It’s rare that you keep the name of the original beat as the title of the song once there is a melody and lyrics, but needless to say ‘Glam!’ really stuck 😂 . One difference with the original best was the bridge was the chorus at the time! Shortly after that, Mike came to LA, and we wrote the whole song in one day. I loved it, but I ended up not releasing it back then because I felt like the lyrics weren’t right? I tried changing them from ‘Love me Forever’ to something else, but it never worked. Now I think they are awesome and completely embody the crazy ambition, wired energy and dreams that I had when I was given a chance in LA after my many years of trying and not getting anywhere in Toronto. Maybe it should have gone on Super Sunset? haha. The production is almost completely all Mike, I just added some additional synth parts like the one going into the second verse and a few others.
