Carnival in Bahia is different from any other. Especially when the Filhos de Gandhy come out.  Thousands of them all dressed the same, except for some accessories each chose for their costume. They often wear baby trinkets to identify themselves as the children of Gandhi. I first went to see them with the incredibly talented musician Caetano Veloso, who took me to a house on a hill that looked to one of the main streets where the carnival takes place.

O Carnaval da Bahia é diferente de qualquer outro. Principalmente quando os Filhos de Gandhy saem na rua. Milhares deles vestidos da mesma maneira, salvo alguns acessórios que cada escolhe para seu traje. Eles costumam usar brincos de bebê para se identificarem como crianças de Gandhi. Fui vê-los pela primeira vez com o talentosíssimo Caetano Veloso, que me levou para uma casa em um morro que dava para uma das ruas principais aonde acontece o carnaval.
