Where's Wally? 🐨
After the Australian wildfires of January 2020 that devastated 2.5 million acres, @ScienceForWildlife teams evaluated the scorched lower Blue Mountain forest and encountered Wally. Found on the side of the road, Wally was quickly reintroduced into a safer area. He was also given an ear tag from the Blue Mountains Koala Project that allows him to be tracked.
Since then, Wally has traveled a massive 40kms (25 miles) back to his home in Blue Mountain forest. This is quite the journey for a koala- marsupials known for snoozing in treetops. The Science For Wildlife team often asks "Where's Wally" as they continue their research and wonder how far he's traveled. But for Wally, there's no place like home.
