The evening before at Sonprayag, I imagined myself reaching Kedarnath right at the time of evening Aarti and thought how cool it would be to step in front of the temple right at the start of it. However, I discarded the thought knowing that I would be starting early and would reach there sometime around noon. However, next morning at Gaurikund, I realised there were no porters available and the mule owners were charging a lot to carry my bags. So I took the decision to carry all my luggage, around 25+ Kgs of bags, and walk all the way till the top. I hadn’t attempted anything like that previously, but I decided to give it a try. And as it happened, I knew I’d have to take it slow instead of running all the way till the top, without my bags, as I had hoped for earlier. And eventually it took me ten hours to walk all the way till the top with all my luggage, and as I entered Kedarnath at the sunset, Himalayas glowed from behind the clouds and made me forget about all my tiredness, and that’s when it happened.
