Then the pandemic hit and the experience of sharing a meal with loved ones was suddenly gone. Watching local restaurants struggle to survive made it so evident just how important the "our place" is. Everyone has one; your neighborhood spot where you've have too many meals to count. The place you've had the most memorable nights and also the least. The place of first dates, birthday dinners and just a random Tuesday. It's not that it's particularly fancy or even especially great. It's just that it's yours. We photographed this collection on Long Beach Island, New Jersey, where I grew up. We shot at all of our places; the places I've been eating at with my family since I was little, places that are so special to us.
