Sakura of America(サクラクレパス)のインスタグラム(sakuraofamerica) - 6月11日 02時02分
Living in the rather damp and woodsy Pacific Northwest means mushrooms are everywhere. Which isn't a bad thing because they are such fun shapes to sketch!
You can create a dynamic sketch of something like this Shaggy Parasol mushroom by using various Sakura pens and brushes, which all pack up and carry nicely in a pencil pouch. This is really nice if you want to sketch on-site and don't want to pack a lot of art supplies!
I like to start with the black #pigmamicron pens, drawing the key shapes and details. Next I'll use a grey Micron to add some secondary crosshatching or lines. It's a subtle way to suggest color values without having to actually use color! Finally, using a #sakurakoi brush pen in a color you like, you can quickly brush on a shadow underneath the subject. This not only adds a dash of color but is also a great way to add some depth and highlight your drawing.
I'm Megan from @heythere.chickadee, and I hope these posts have sparked some ideas of how to sketch natural subjects you may discover!
