マシュー・カマさんのインスタグラム写真 - (マシュー・カマInstagram)「TW: a sincere, non comical moment. I’m sorry. I started my first band with my brother 21 years ago when we were preteens. I thought the greatest power on earth came from playing his Wayne’s World edition Stratocaster and covering Nirvana, Green Day and Soul Asylum songs together. Never in a million years could I have imagined the joy, heartache, thrill, and disappointment that would accompany this trip we’ve been on ever since. We’ve both achieved our versions of “success”…the kind that the 13 year old editions of us would think is “making it”. We’ve both been jealous of other people’s trajectories, too hard on ourselves, and endlessly on the hunt for new ways to feel fulfilled. When we started Winnetka, the idea was to “do the thing we’ve always wanted to do” after years of doing the stuff we felt we HAD to do. Of course, we wanted it to “succeed”, but I don’t know exactly what succeeding really means anymore…especially in the age of “anything can happen, at anytime”. There’s something nice about knowing a song’s lifespan is no longer strapped to a timeline or an album cycle…and something uncomfortable about knowing there’s no real structure or plan passed just releasing music and being consistent. All’s to say, I think it’s up to us to pause every once in a while, really take in how lucky we are to be where we’re at, and define what success is for ourselves. We just finished a tour opening for two wonderful bands, hopefully winning some people over by singing our tunes like we did in the basement when we were kids. Sure, I hope we’re the biggest band in the world one day but even if we’re not - 13 year old me would be so stoked to see this photo and hear about how we got here.」7月15日 2時34分 - matthewkoma
