I came across this entry from the first day of nationals 2022 (swipe to read). I found it intriguing that many of my thoughts were centred around enjoying myself. I wish I would’ve tried not to force it so much and allowed myself to be as I was. I remember wanting (needing!) to win so desperately. A year later, I can count on one hand how many times I’ve thought about that particular title. The memories of the performances themselves come much more frequently. I am looking forward (with cautious optimism) to attending as a spectator this year! For all those competing, I wish you personal bests and the strength and grit to accomplish all of your goals.
