The connection between them was clear to see, their bond of friendship only strengthened by the hardships they overcame together out on the Atlantic. 🙌 The finish flares were sparked and burned bright as the sun started to dip below the horizon. 🔥 A fellow team, the Atlantic Guardsmen swam all the way out to the finish line to cheer this duo in their monumental finish! There wasn’t a dry eye as this duo stepped onto land today in Nelson’s Dockyard and hugged each other in a display of camaraderie that only those who have faced the worst and best of each other can. 🤝 Charlie said “To do it with my best friend, and one of the best people I’ve honestly ever met, it’s been really real”. These two intrepid men from the UK met in the restaurant industry in Charleston, USA. Both were inspired by friends who previously rowed, and they harboured ambitions for the row independently until they just happened to realise they both shared the same dream! 🤩 Today that dream was finally realised as they crossed the finish line at 17:11 local time in a time of 40 days, 8 hours and 59 minutes. They are the first pair of this year’s race to finish in the World’s Toughest Row! ☝️ They’ve faced capsize, a broken rudder that was fixed by just duct tape and even hallucinations of parking attendants and squirrels! 🐿️ Their charities are close to their hearts and hometown - Green Heart Project & 2041 Foundation.
