Today marks the first ever Reverse the Red Day. This global movement and day spotlights conservation in action and the efforts across the world that are making a difference for species conservation – all aiming to reverse negative IUCN RED List of Threatened Species trends.

Taronga directly contributes to 14 Recovery Programs that aim to stop biodiversity decline and support the recovery of these species under threat. The Regent Honeyeater is one of these collaborative conservation programs where across both sites our scientists, keepers, volunteers and partners work together to avoid this critically endangered bird from going extinct by releasing zoo-bred birds, protecting and increasing suitable habitat, applying evidence-based management of the zoo population, and engaging with the wider community.

Taronga is a not-for-profit dedicated to securing a future for wildlife and people so whether you visit, stay or donate, you have the power to protect wildlife and Reverse the Red.
