He never quit, he had the most admirable determination with such a strong mind, which is why he was still so sharp at 95. He came from very humble beginnings in Ardmore Oklahoma and moved to Las Vegas NV in his early 20’s, married the love of his life and created the life he wanted for his family. He embodied grace, kindness and strength, he made me believe in myself, he made me feel that with hard work I could do anything I put my mind to. He loved to root for the underdog. He treated everyone he met with kindness and respect, he did good things not for the praise but because it was the right thing to do. He was an amazing family man, the only betrayal I ever felt was learning his real name wasn’t Papa. When I hear the word legend his face and his life are what I measure that word by. There won’t be a day that goes by I won’t think of him and try to make him proud. There are no regrets as we all knew how much he loved us and he knew how much he was loved, the only sadness is not being able to look into his eyes when I say it now. I thank him for being so strong for me while he was here and teaching me about life through the example of his own. This beautiful life isn’t to say that there weren’t unimaginable hardships, he just didn’t ever talk about them.
