These shots are called “Oners” and is essentially one long take without cuts. Sometimes filmmakers use tricks to fake the effect or hide a cut of a Oner but this is a real one, the more action that is in it the technically harder (and exhausting) it is to pull off, everyone has to be perfectly in sync, from the stunt team to the camera operator to the focus puller to the actors ect, one wrong move or angle and the shot is dead and you must start again, we only had about 45 minutes to rehearse this with the camera operator so he understood where he needs to be to not get whacked with a sword and to capture the dynamic angle for the choreography. If you notice Tolya does not unsheathe his blade till mid fight using the enemies neck, small but great details, the rush of pulling off a shot like this is very rewarding, thank you to this incredible team, it was a fun one ! If you haven’t finished season 2 the last few episodes are really intense ❤️⚔️
