Day 5: I was quite surprised by this series of paintings by the Manila-based Painter, Jigger Cruz. @jiggercruzcruz at @tangcontemporaryart. The whole gallery smelled of oil and turpentine- and between the smell, and the voluptuous forms, and the way the textures glistened under the light- I was hungry, enthralled, and ready to eat the paintings up. I loved this solo show. Reminds me of my art studio when I was a painter. Via Tang: Cruz applies layer by layer the dense oil colour, not only hiding, rather mystifying the classical backdrop.
