ファーン・コットンさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ファーン・コットンInstagram)「Very short trip to Amsterdam but packed a lot in. Art galleries and a guided Anne Frank walk. I have just finished reading an amazing book about Anne which is out this summer (not sure how much info I can give on this yet as I got an early copy) so it was so interesting to see many of the spots discussed in the book in real life, including the Frank families hiding place during the Nazi occupation. My great nan Esther Cotton, who I luckiky got to spend a lot of time with as she lived into her 90's, was jewish so I've been quizzing my dad on our family tree. Esther's mothers maiden name was Gottheimer and her grandfather came from Poland. It's an unusual surname but I found a man named Albert on the halocaust memorial. He was the only one out of thousands remembered with the surname Gottheimer. (See the last photo) Dad and I now wonder if Albert was a relative. It was beyond moving, harrowing and heart breaking to read the thousands of names of jewish people, children and babies who had been living in Holland but sent away to the camps to their death. A moment of silent thought and prayer. Anne's diaries remain some of the most important and powerful words ever written, reminding us of the devestating pain and horror of discrimination. A powerful 24 hours I wont forget.」4月2日 20時19分 - fearnecotton
