I did this because it would be the last time I skate in that pair of skates and blades, which are definitely the most special pair I’ve lasted out thus far, due to the memories and experiences I’ve worn them through. From a unforgettable Olympic season to getting the show girl spray and winning dancing on ice. I played a few of my favourite songs on this session, but this one stood out for me. From the car rides to sessions on the ice with @nilemw he introduced me to one of his favourite artists @ansonseabra which I can’t lie is not my cup of tea when it comes to music, but the way I saw Nile connect with the music and the lyrics.. I was sold. We originally wanted to use one of his tracks for our personal week skate on the show but that didn’t work out, so I decided to take one of the songs on, on my own and just feel. And skate. So this one is for us @nilemw 🤍 But then I personally ended up resonating so much with the lyrics from my own journey.. A year ago today I was in a very very different place. I was lost, broken and confused, and today I feel bright, excited and hopeful, and the journey still continues, the self work and trying my best everyday is still a practise. But looking back at everything that happened, every big and little thing that had an affect, got me to where I am, who I feel I am today and who I want to become. The people, the lessons learnt, the adventures, the hurt, and the triumphs (no matter how big or small) I am all so grateful for. So I’m starting my next chapter by writing a love letter to myself last year, ‘Dear 2022 Olivia Smart’ and thanking myself for everything that I overcame, learnt and loved through to get me here today.
