One of my favorite spring activities is bike riding, so I thought I would show you how to hand letter on your bike helmet! My son graciously offered up his helmet for this post, which has a matte grey surface, perfect for Sakura markers. The original lettering for “Keep Rolling” was drafted on tracing paper and transferred to the helmet using chalk and a white pencil. I then filled in the letters with a 1.2 mm white Permapaque marker. To add a little interest and color, I used the orange Permapaque marker to stipple some dots at the top of each downstroke (the thick part of the letter). Finally, I used the 1.0 m Pen-Touch paint marker in fluorescent orange to add some further dimension. The markers are waterproof, so my son will have no issues using this outdoors.
