Asian elephants like this one @buffalo_zoo can produce over 200 pounds of dung every day - which spreads seeds all throughout their home range.These seeds help to replenish trees in forests, which fights the effects of climate change! This is just one of the many ways elephants help people, which is why work to reduce conflict between humans and elephants is so important. Development and expansion into this species’ habitat leaves elephants without access to natural food sources and shelter, forcing them to seek out food on farms and plantations. Farmers can lose their entire livelihood as a result of elephant raiding, which often leads to retaliation. Securing protected habitat and creating corridors where elephants can move throughout their home range safely is key to creating a peaceful environment for both humans and these gentle-giants.
