バーレット・フォアさんのインスタグラム写真 - (バーレット・フォアInstagram)「Last month, I had the honor of performing in Broadway Backwards, a one-night-only benefit concert at the New Amsterdam Theatre in NYC . The hilarious George Abud and I sang, spat, and sword-fought our way through a wildly caustic (if kinky) "Virginia Woolf"-esque take on the classic, “I’d Do Anything” from the musical, OLIVER! Kudos to Bob Bartley for his quick-witted and sharp-tongued script as well as his brilliantly complex but damn-was-it-worth-it staging utilizing about 972 props and 5 costume changes inside a 4 minute number. While the majority of songs in the concert were "park and barks" (where the performer simply stands at the mic and sings) our number was so involved, we rehearsed every day for a week to get it right. Most actors would be put out by that level of time commitment for an unpaid concert, but there was nowhere else on Earth I wanted to be. There's a certain indescribable magic that sparks up inside the safe and supportive walls of a rehearsal room. From drilling the lyrics, to mastering the harmonies, to solving the complicated math equation necessary to nail the precision of a one count bit of physical comedy - I somehow never get sick of this type of creation, so here I am: manifesting more. ✨ My first Broadway Backwards was back in 2012, when I got to belt out "I Still Believe" from MISS SAIGON with my old pal @tellyleung Now in its 17th year, Broadway Backwards is celebration of LGBTQ+ stories told through the great songs of musical theater. This year, we raised a record breaking $765,069 to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center in NYC. I was honored to share the stage with the likes of Len Cariou (in his 16th year!), F.
