While parks or hiking trails provide access to green spaces, those options aren't easily accessible to all.
Due to decades of discriminatory policies, certain communities have been disproportionately affected and have fewer trees. This is particularly true in low-income neighborhoods and areas with a high population of people of color, where redlining practices have limited access to resources and opportunities. Studies* have shown that these redlined neighborhoods lack trees, which deprives residents of the numerous benefits they offer, such as improved air quality and enhanced climate resiliency.
