Have you ever had a vacation rental so magical, you wished you could live there? Carolyn Evans certainly did. Built in 1968, her dream midcentury Maine home is on 12 acres and overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. “It had me at the full glass front,” she says. Two weeks later, Evans and her family learned that the house was going on the market and by September, the place was theirs. Evans called Charleston-based interior designer Angie Hranowsky (@angiehranowsky) to help perfect the interiors. There was nothing Hranowsky could do on the inside to compete with that view. So taking her cues from the original architect, Emily Muir, she didn’t try. Here in the kitchen, she simply added a fresh coat of paint to the kitchen cabinets and covered the counters with new sheets of Formica.
