Last summer, Noteisha Womack helped save someone’s life for the first time. She was packing up to leave her shift at the Prince George’s Sports & Learning Complex when she heard her coworker, Scott McNichols, yell for help.

She quickly headed to his location in the gym and found Scott with another colleague, Thomas Clerkley, assisting a man who had collapsed while using a treadmill. The man was now unconscious on the floor, which Noteisha found alarming, it being her first severe emergency. “It was jarring to see the man unresponsive on the floor,” she said.

Working swiftly, Noteisha, Scott and Thomas began administering CPR. As gym onlookers began to approach the scene, Noteisha made sure they stood at a safe distance. She also retrieved the facility’s automated external defibrillator and called 911, assisting first responders in the building once they arrived.

Thanks to Noteisha, Scott and Thomas’ lifesaving skills and swift action, the man is alive today and they were recognized with American Red Cross Lifesaving Awards from the @RedCrossNCGC. Way to go, Lifesavers! #LifesavingAwards
