But I couldn’t have done it without my friends who really stepped up in coming forward with beautiful and fun ideas, in helping the weekend run smoothly, in supporting me in the many ways that y’all did, and I just simply being A+ humans and helping create the environment that I wanted to within the festival. I created this festival for many reasons - one of which was to create space that was warm and welcoming to all participants. Why? Well, I’ve been part of festivals, as a professional athlete and instructor, where I didn’t feel welcome. Things felt clique-y and I didn’t know where I fit in and I was so uncomfortable outside of the clinics I taught that I wished I weren’t there. And if I, a cis white woman who’s a professional climber and instructor felt that way, I knew I couldn’t be the only one experiencing those feelings, right?! Unfortunately, right. What I witnessed come to life this weekend was ✨magical ✨. The feedback I got from people brought me to tears. Seeing the engagement from everyone made this journey of bringing this festival to life so very worth it. I am speechless beyond saying … … thank you all so very much for being rad humans who opened your arms to one another at the festival. Thank you for trusting me and @shesendscollective - thank you thank you thank you.
