The Tory Government has pushed through their terrifying Law and Order bill that criminalises protest and in fact means
in the UK you can be arrested for merely thinking about protesting or breaking a law , you don’t have to do it , just thinking about doing it is now enough for you to be arrested.
This is the work of this horrendous Tory government.
The idea behind this law is so vile it’s on a par with science fiction films like The Minority report and Orwell’s 1984 . This is literally the thought police.
We have taken yet another step and a big step into becoming a Fascist country.
It is a basic right in a democracy to protest and that is being made illegal by this law.. Most of the huge societal advantages have come through protest , wether it’s women’s rights , decriminalisation of gay sex , racial equality, the poll tax , all of these had to start as protest or civil disobedience. Protest is now being criminalised by this government.
It effectively means the government now has the power to suppress any protest it doesn’t agree with !! It’s a chilling erosion of our rights !
This is a government which is not fit for purpose and certainly not fit to run this country.
This is no joke or idle threat , it’s happening already , only days after the law was passed .
How long before any protest , even this post is outlawed ?
We need to vote this government out of office and make sure no government ever again uses the law to stop the right to voice protest .
The question I want to know is will Labour or the Lib Dems or the Greens promise to repeal it ? Ask them ……
