#HondaHeritage Honda's XL series was known for its reliability, affordability and approachability, and the XL125 is certainly a good example of that. Offered in the U.S. starting in 1974 (the one pictured here is from '75), the little dual-sport machine replaced the SL125. The original XL125 was powered by a 122cc overhead-cam, air-cooled four-stroke single, with a five-speed transmission, and it had humble features like kickstart, drum brakes and dual rear shocks. In 1979, the engine was replaced with a 124cc single with a six-speed gearbox. Not exactly a powerhouse, the XL125 was nonetheless quite popular up until it was discontinued after the 1985 model year, and owners tended to ride it long and hard, often with relatively little in the way of maintenance. How popular? Last year, a low-mileage example sold at auction for nearly $17,000! In Honda's current lineup, the new XR150L honors the heritage of the XL125.
